The archaeological site of Agia Triada is located approximately 65 km south of Heraklion in a distance of 3 km from the Palace of Phaistos. It is an important archaeological site and was a summer palace or mansion of Minoan era.

The royal mansion was built in 1600 BC and is believed to serve as a summer residence of the king of Phaistos, and there is a thought that be used as a residence after the destruction of the palace of Phaistos. From the 8th to the 1st century BC was used as a place of worship and was built sanctuary dedicated to Zeus Belchano. During the Venetian rule in the 14th century AD there was built the church of Agios Georgios Galatas.

At the archaeological site of Agia Triada found many ceramic artifacts, signs with Linear B script, stone tools and pottery with reliefs, nine bronze talents showing that the area was used as a treasury, and a sarcophagus.
