Tzermiado village is one of the most beautiful villages of the Lasithi plateau, at an altitude of 850 meters, 50 kilometers west of Agios Nikolaos city and is one of the most beautiful winter destinations of Crete.

The name of the village comes from the first years of the Venetian inhabitation of island. The human presence in the area starts back to the Neolithic Ages giving it historical importance, as here have found many pottery objects of the Middle Minoan period, as shells and bronze objects of Roman period.

Next to the village is the famous cave of Trapeza or Kronion where, apart from the speleological interest it presents, have found ancient traces of habitation and was used as a place of worship as indicated the gold objects and figurines found and objects of Egyptian worship, and later shown to used as a landfill.

For lovers of the nature, from the village begins a short section of path E4 which leads through an easy and beautiful way surrounded by nature at the mountain top Nail, also a place of archaeological interest where Minoans settled after the destruction of major cities of the island.
