Elounda is a well-known seaside town about 11 km north of Agios Nikolaos known for its beautiful beaches, luxury hotels and the neighboring island, Spinalonga.

It is one of the most popular tourist destinations where every year is preferred by magnates, famous film and political figures from all over the world. Despite the fact that high cost luxuries are offered, there are also economical choices of accommodation and entertainment.

Another beauty of the area are its beaches. North of the port of Elounda there is a windless, sandy, well organized beach, while south of the harbor there is a rocky beach without infrastructure ideal for those who prefer absolute peace.

Another tourist attraction is the island Spinalonga and its history, where today it is a source of inspiration for the writing of books and the production of dramatic films, as since 1905 and for the next 53 years it was the gathering place for the lepers of Crete. Daily boat trips are organized to the island which is visited by thousands of visitors everyday. It is also a candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
